It may be called the “Sunshine State”, but it’s not always sunny in Florida. So what do you do when the forecast calls for rain on your parade? Here are my top 5 rainy day activities at Walt Disney World:
#5 Grab your poncho and head to the theme parks to take advantage of shorter wait time and smaller crowds!
#6 Head to Disney Springs- with 110 shopping options and 57 dining options, this, alone, offers plenty of things to occupy your time on that rainy day in Orlando. However, for something truly special, catch a movie at the AMC Movie Theater, Grab a drink and a show at Raglan Road or House of Blues, or (my favorite), bowl a game or two at Splitsville Luxury Lanes (reservations required).
#7 Spend the day resort hopping. Choose some resorts that are close to one and other- for example, the resorts on the monorail line or that are accessible by boat from Disney Springs- and visit each one. Take in the uniqueness of each lobby. Grab a drink at the resort bars and lounges. Visit the quick service locations where you can often find a unique cupcake (or even Dole Whip at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort). Ask the concierge to give you a list of hidden Mickey’s to find- a GREAT way to explore! Resort hopping is a great and FREE way to see parts of “the World” that you may not have otherwise!
#8 If the temperature outside is warm and there is no lightning or thunder, consider spending the day at the resort pool or, better yet, at one of Disney’s water parks (Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon). You’re wet anyway…..
#9 Check out the arcade and activity rooms at your home resort as well as the calendar of resort activities for fun rainy day options!
Don’t let the rainy weather ruin your good time! Any of these rainy day activities at Walt Disney World is sure to put a sunshiny smile on your face. After all, a rainy day in Disney is better than a sunny day at work!
