No time to read our Mousekemoms Blog today? No problem! Here is the Podcast with the tips for you:
Bigger is Better
This is normally true. It’s especially true when talking about a resort room for your long Disney vacation.
Nobody wants to be cramped in a standard hotel room for more than a few days. Opting for a 1 or 2 bedroom villa for a week-long stay allows your family to spread out with: full kitchen, 2-3 bathrooms, washer and dryer! Washer and Dryer! Yes, we meant to say that twice. These huge, luxurious spaces are your home away from home. It’s way more fun to cook in a kitchen that isn’t yours, which brings us to our next point…
Don’t Opt for the Dining Plan. But Also, Maybe Get the Dining Plan.
We are being intentionally ambiguous here. The decision here rests on budget. Did you spring for the 2 bedroom villa and now you need to save a bit? Skip the dining plan! Shopping with Instacart is convenient and your delivery will come to the front desk! You can put that beautiful kitchen to use and make a few meals during the week.
OR, maybe you opted for a Saratoga Springs 2 bedroom villa, which is one of the more budget-friendly villas on Disney property. NOW we think you should spring for the dining plan so your vacation is that much more relaxing. The kitchen is still great for breakfast and late night snacks!
Spring for the 7-Day Tickets! With or without park hopper
Once you cross the threshold of a 5-day ticket, the value of the 6 and 7-day ticket increases! It’s only slightly more for those week-long tickets so you might as well spring for them if you’re staying a week. Maybe you only feel like going to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Maybe you want to ride Guardians and then head back to the pool. You have that flexibility with a 7-day ticket, and you won’t feel like you need to spend the whole day in the park!
Whether you get park hoppers or not goes back to budget and where you opted to stay. Another plug for Saratoga Springs and their affordable villas!
Mini Golf, Water Parks, Pony Rides, Oh MY!
Miniature Golf:
Disney World’s full menu of activities outside the main theme parks is HUGE! Most families don’t take advantage of the unique experiences Disney World has to offer because they don’t stay long enough. But if you’re staying a week or more, we recommend some Disney branching out…
Disney World has two mini-golf areas with a total of four courses: Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf and Winter Summerland. They all offer 18 holes of Disney themed mini-golf fun ranging from easier courses for kids to more technical courses for adults!
Disney Water Parks:
Walt Disney World has two water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Taking a day OR two to do a water park is a great option to mix things up during your week-long Disney trip! The park-hopper PLUS option gets you admission to the water parks, golf course AND mini-golf courses! Or, if your booking a trip for 2025, you get FREE admission to one of Disney’s water parks on your check-in day, a major perk for booking a stay next year!
Fort Wilderness Resort:
If you haven’t stayed at the campsites or the cabins at Fort Wilderness, you are missing out! This 750 acre wooded resort area is close to Magic Kingdom and has an extensive list of activities to fill up non-park days: kayaking, canoeing, archery, pony rides, campfires, fishing, wagon rides and more! The BRAND NEW cabins offer a glamping experience and are available starting September 7. Get in touch with a Kingdom and Cruise Travel Agent today to book one for the fall! Some resort activities may be available to resort guests only during peak seasons.
Mouseketip: Relax and Enjoy Your Resort Amenities!
Spending a week or more in the magic means you should slow your pace and enjoy the little moments – even quiet moments to yourself! Book a spa appointment at Grand Floridian. Try a resort restaurant you haven’t visited yet, like California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary where you can have a great view of the fireworks. Check out the daily schedule at your resort for kids’ activities. Spend a lazy day by the pool. It’s ALL magical!
