Welcome back, Mousekefriends! It’s been a long journey with Disney’s Magicband+, but we finally have some new developments with the release date of the MagicBand+!
After Disney’s soft-launch earlier this year, we finally have some more solid information about what this band is capable of, and where and when we can get it!
When And Where Can We Get One?
MagicBand+ will be available starting July 27. The prices now begin at $34.99, but discounts such as Annual Passholder will be available.
You will be able to purchase one at the following places:
- Magic Kingdom Park: Emporium
- EPCOT: Pin Traders – Camera Center
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Celebrity 5 & 10 and Tatooine Traders
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park: Discovery Trading Company
- Disney Springs: Disney’s Pin Traders
- Select merchandise locations at Disney Resort hotels
- ShopDisney.com before your stay
Disney also gave us a teaser the MagicBand+ will soon head cross-country, and be available at DisneyLand later this year.
MagicBand+ Capabilities
MagicBand+ will be able to do everything that a regular MagicBand is able to do, from entering theme parks and water parks with valid admission, unlocking your resort room door, connecting Disney’s Photopass to your account, to charging food and merchandise to your room during your stay.
Disney’s new MagicBand+ will also showcase some great new features, including color-changing lights, haptic vibrations and gesture recognition. It will also pair to a smartphone using the My Disney Experience app. More than 25 designs will be available, and plenty of new experiences have been created for a new, magical immersion in the parks.
With the release of MagicBand+, we have also been given some more information on the interactions we will be able to have with it, including:
Disney's Fab50 Quest
As part of the Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration, guests can interact with the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection throughout all four theme parks. You can help Tinker Bell bring the sculptures to life across the theme parks using virtual pixie dust from Tink herself.
According to the email Disney sent out this morning, “Guests can wave their hand to sprinkle virtual pixie dust at each Disney Fab 50 Character sculpture for different reactions! To unlock even more, use the Play Disney Parks app to collect the sculptures and enter the worlds of favorite characters through an augmented reality feature.” (To use the Play Disney Parks mobile app to enhance the MagicBand+ experience, guests must be logged into the Play Disney Parks app with the Disney account linked with their MagicBand+.)
Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters
MagicBand+ will be able to further immerse you by seeking out virtual bountys in Black Spire Outpost with the Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters experience. You will find yourself on the trail, using lights and vibrations to guide you. When you find your Bounty, use the Play Disney Parks app’s augmented reality thermal viewer to reveal who’s hiding in the shadows. Local guild master Raga Bua will reward guests with galactic credits.
Nighttime Spectaculars
Now, you’ll be able to experience MORE at the different nighttime shows. During “Disney Enchantment” at Magic Kingdom Park and “Harmonious” at EPCOT, new features will connect you to the magic like never before. Your MagicBand+ will light up and vibrate in sync with fireworks, visual effects, and music. Guests’ MagicBand+ will also engage as all four theme park icons transform into Beacons of Magic!
Mousekemom Tip
Be sure to pack your charger for this bad boy! For MagicBand+ to work, it needs to be charged. They recommend having a full charge each day, so you don’t miss out on any of the magic!
Will you be getting one of these for your next trip?
