Big News on the Bayou
The big day is around the corner! If you have a trip booked for this summer, you are in luck! The much anticipated ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, will open June 28th.
What is Tiana’s Bayou Adventure?
This ride is a reimagination of the former Splash Mountain, a log flume ride that was ripe for a new vision to feature beloved contemporary Disney movie characters. The new ride adventure is based on the story of the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, “The Princess and the Frog.” Guests aboard the new ride will go on a journey down the Bayou as Tiana and pals prepare for a Mardi Gras celebration. Although the ride has taken on a new theme, the most thrilling feature is still there – the 50-foot drop at the end down the waterfall! We can’t wait to see the new lead-in for that moment!
If you have ever been to Mardi Gras celebration, you know that music plays a central role. New Orleans and Louisiana’s bayou are home to all kinds of music – Afro-Cuban, Jazz, Zydeco, and Rara. You will experience all of them during the ride! The ride soundtrack will feature some familiar tunes from the movie plus new original songs that pay homage to all the music styles of the region.
How to Ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
There is no doubt that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will become an instant classic. The chance to ride will be a little competitive during the early weeks.
Disney Parks let us know that there will be a virtual queue for the ride during the initial opening period. No standby line will be offered at first but they say one will be available sometime “soon” after opening. The virtual queue can be joined at 7am or at 1pm inside the Magic Kingdom. You can also use your My Disney Experience app to book a Lightning Lane for the ride at 7am if you have purchased Genie+ for the Magic Kingdom or the multi-park option. Contact your travel agent at Kingdom and Cruise and they can explain this process and book your magical Disney vacation!

Be sure to purchase Memory Maker, the Disney PhotoPass all-inclusive package that will allow you to download all of your vacation photos, including the new special photo taken on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure when you’re “almost there.” This photo is complete with magical Disney elements!
Be sure to purchase Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and “The Princess and the Frog” – inspired merchandise beginning June 28th at the Emporium in Magic Kingdom. You will find some later on at Critter Co-op in Frontierland. Last, for a limited time, beignets will be available at Friar’s Nook and the Golden Oak Outpost beginning June 28th. These delectable fried dough morsels are light and sweet and come drizzled with honey and topped with powdered sugar. We can taste them already!
